PLANT DESCRIPTION
An herbaceous erect perennial plant grows up to 1 meter in height. Leaves orbicular in outline, 6-14 x 7-14 cm, base slightly cordate, apex acute, margins sharply angular or dentate; flowers purple, in clusters of 2-5; fruits mammose, the basal protuberances 3 or 5, orange, shiny. Fruits contain many small seeds embedded in the pulp.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated vata, pitta, inflammation, nervine debility, restlessness, wound; fungal infections and ulcers. Unripe fruits are used in India as vegetable and for some offerings.
