PLANT DESCRIPTION
A herbecious aromatic perennial herb grows up to 20 cm in height. leaves are simple, opposite, and ovate or lanceolate, with thick veins. Flowers pink or violet, seen in terminal spikes. Fruits nutlets.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated kapha, vata, abdominal discomfort, vomiting, muscular spasm, bronchitis, cough, asthma, amennorrhoea, dysmenorrhea, dental caries, jaundice and urinary retention.

CHEMICAL CONTENTS
The chief constituents of the essential oil are carvone (55-75%) and limonene (up to 21.4%). The herb gave flavonoids, diosmin and diosmetin. Caffeic acid derivatives include rosmarinic acid in the volatile oil.
Dosage _ Leaf—5-10 ml juice; 3– 5 ml extract. (CCRAS.)
