PLANT DESCRIPTION
An extensively spreading creeping vine with clinging rootlets with the aid of a powerful adhesive. Leaves simple, heart-shaped, small when young; changes to larger, 2-4in long, oblong and leathery form when mature. Once the vine has reach the top of its support if will begin to form horizontal branches on which adult foliage is borne. Adult leaves are held alternately in two rows along these branches. Flowers whitish, rudimentary, and rarely seen. Fruits rarely seen; droopy small fig-like fruit, plum-sized; not edible
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated vata, pitta, skin diseases, diabetes, Hypertension, pruritus, wounds, ulcers, burning sensation, and inflammation. In some part of Kerala, this plant is used as Kallal (Parisa) instead of Ficus arnottiana.

CHEMICAL CONTENTS
Four flavonoid glycosides were isolated and identified as rutin, apigenin 6-neohesperidose, kaempferol 3-robinobioside, and kaempferol 3-rutinoside. Among these compounds, rutin exhibited the strongest antioxidant activity.
