Distribution – Growing wild, in the dense forests of Western Ghats and in Himalayan peninsula.
PLANT DESCRIPTION
A small sized perennial orchid grows up to 60 cm in height. Stem forms the underground corm or pseudobulb. Leaves simple, linear lanceolate, with longitudinal deep furrows, glabrous above, and pubescent beneath. Roots tuberoid or stolonoid, usually with spongy, multilayered velamen roots. Flowers whitish yellow, and fragrant. Reproduction usually by budding.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated pitta, inflammation, bronchitis, vitiated blood, tumor, worm infestation, poison, snakebite and skin diseases. In tribal medicine, it is used as an antidote for spider poison.
