PLANT DESCRIPTION
A small erect shrub grows up to 5 m in height with stems marked by leaf scars. Leaves palmate, pale green, 5-9 lobed, lobes lanceolate, acuminate, entire; flowers yellow or greenish white, unisexual, in terminal cymes; fruits capsules containing 3 seeds. Roots are cluster of tuberous roots; which are edible. In some seasons, and in some variety, the presence of hydrocyanic compounds makes the root and leaves poisonous, and the poisonous nature of root is lost while cooking.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated vata, anorexia, dyspepsia, constipation, wounds, foul ulcers and general debility.
Useful part : Tuberous roots.
