Distribution – Growing naturally in dense evergreen forests of India, especially in Western Ghats.
PLANT DESCRIPTION
An erect, evergreen shrub grows up to 3 meters in height. Leaves pinnate, imparipinnate, with 7-11 leaflets. Leaflets oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, sub sessile or small petioled, acuminate, and shiny. Flowers found in long multi-branched axillary panicles, small and whitish. Fruits are small globose drupes, 5 chambered, containing 1-2 seeds per chamber.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated pitta, kapha poison, snake poison, edema, traumatic swelling, skin diseases, diabetes, worms, oligospermia, and is a good medicine for bleeding disorders including hemophilia.
