Distribution – Throughout India, in deciduous forests.   
PLANT DESCRIPTION
A medium sized to large tree grows up to 25 meters in height. Leaves imparipinnate. Leaflets are pubescent beneath, glabrous above, and acuminate. Flowers small, yellowish seen in axillary or terminal panicles. Fruits black fleshy drupes, with many seeds.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated kapha, pitta, pulmonary affections, opacity of the cornea, roundworm gastric complaints. The galls are useful in obesity, splenomegaly and in ulcers.

CHEMICAL CONTENTS
The leaves and stem bark contain sterols, sitosterol, stigmasterol and campesterol; fatty acids; aliphatic compounds; a mixture of long chain esters; along with tannins and waxes.
The leaves also contain garugarin and amentoflavone. Gum-resin contains alpha-amyrin, butyrospermol and dammarandiol. Aqueous and ethanolic extract of the leaves exhibit anti-inflammatory and antiallergic activities.
