PLANT DESCRIPTION
An erect annual herb grows up to 4 m in height. stem hirsute and few branches at the lop; leaves simple, alternate, long-stalked, broadly ovate to cordate, toothed, rough pubescent on both sides; flowers bright yellow, in heads, terminal on the main axis and branches; fruits slightly compressed cypsela.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
The plant pacifies vitiated kapha, vata, The roots are for strengthening the teeth. The leaves are useful in low back pain, fever, ulcers, wounds, head ache and burning sensation. The flowers are useful in inflammations, skin diseases, pruritus, ulcers, hysteria, bronchitis, asthma, anemia, burning sensation, hemorrhoids, ascites, worm infestations, intermittent fevers, amenorrhea, dysmenorrheal. The seeds are expectorant and diuretic, and are useful in cough and pneumonia.
