Distribution – Throughout the rocky hillsides of Western ghats. Grows as epiphyte.
PLANT DESCRIPTION
A small epiphytic perennial orchids, grows over rocks and on old trees. pseudobulbs are 5-50 cm long, mauve brown, internodes 2-4 cm long. Leaves alternte, 5-10 cm long, elliptic-oblong and membranous. Flowers in many-flowred racemes, showy cream colored, with a green center. Fruits small capsules, with very small powder like seeds.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated tridoshas, diseases of eye, ear, burning sensation, indigestion, Stomach pain, spasm, constipation, liver diseases and used as a poultice in pimples and boils. Traces of alkaloids have been reported to be present in the pseudobulbs and leaves.
